| Men's Fellowship - 6:00 p.m. ~ 1st Thurs. each month The Men's Fellowship is open to all men of the church, friends and visitors. This spirit-filled group meets on the first Thursday of the month at 6:00 p.m. in the Parish Hall. A steak barbeque is served followed by a fellowship time which includes a discussion on a variety of contemporary Bible topics, put in relevant context for you. Please feel free to join and participate in this fellowship opportunity. This is always a fun and enjoyable time for the men in our church. Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church WELCA is a community of women created in the image of God, called to discipleship in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit. We commit ourselves to grow in faith, affirm our gifts, support one another in our callings, engage in ministry and action, and promote healing and wholeness in the church, society and world. To this end there are five circles or communities of Bible study and fellowship available for your participation. Monthly meeting times are as follows:
More WELCA Happenings and Women's Resources Lay Pastors The primary purpose of our Lay Pastor ministry has been to organize and lead small care groups. The groups meet once a week, for about an hour at a group members' home. The hour usually includes an opening prayer or meditation, a song and review of the scripture lessons from the preceding Sunday. Some groups are open-ended, others are planned for a short term - perhaps for six weeks or six months - what best suits the needs of the groups. Some groups reach out to men, or to women, or college-age young people, or semi-mobile older persons. Special interest groups have been popular among some of the members; i.e., single mothers, recovering alcoholics, caregivers and others in need of understanding support. To assist the pastor, lay pastors have been taught the dynamics of small groups, how to visit the hospitalized, what to say or not say, and how to pray for and with the ill. Healing services are scheduled several times a year. Current lay pastors are David Alder, Taylor Avery, Chris Bates, Lucy Becker, Harry Brandt, Joanne Burling, Lynn Choate, Joyce Contreras, Bob Eisenbeisz, Lorna Kenney, Emelie Neher, Harriet Roggenbuck, Connie Showler and Jeff Staggs. Care Groups are Bible studies based on previous weeks scriptural readings to further promote understanding on how to make God’s word relevant and meaningful in our everyday lives. These small and intimate groups are driven by prayer support for the members and engaging fellowship. There are many opportunities every week to join a group or simply visit. Groups are always open and everyone is welcome. Groups meet both in private homes and at the church campus. There is a time and place to satisfy everyone’s needs. For more information about meeting locations please contact the church.
