John spends half of his time with palliative care (care for the dying) at Christian Medical College in Vellore, South India, and the other half of his time traveling to other Lutheran partner hospitals to provide presentations and classes for nurses, pastors, ICU doctors, and community groups. “Mission hospitals have a challenge,” John observes, “Jesus predicted it in John 12:8: ‘You will always have the poor with you’… The new challenge is to discern God’s call for these healing ministries in the 21st century and discover how to provide finances, personnel, and equipment.
