Study: Join us in Bible reading and reflecting on God's amazing grace

   
  • Beginning on Sunday, May 16, from 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. in the Parish Hall, Pastor Hall has been leading us in a study on Human Sexuality, Reviewing Biblical history and Contextual Materials.  This ten week study is on May 16, 23, 30; June 13, 20, 27; July 11, 18, and August 1 & 15.  The format of the study is structured so that it will be beneficial to attend all sessions.  Missed any classes?  Homework so far:  Read the following books of the Bible in their entirety:  Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy, Acts, Galatians.  Read: The following 3 documents on Bound Conscience:  Theological Reflections.  Remarks.    FAQs.   Read A Social Statement on Human Sexuality: Gift and Trust from available from the ELCA Human Sexuality page. Optional Reading: Living the Faith: A Lutheran Perspective on Ethics
  • A 10 week study of the book of Revelation will be held in the library on Wednesdays, June 16, 23, 30, July 14, 21, 28, Aug 4, 11, and 25.  The morning study will occur from 10:00 a.m. -11:30 a.m. and the evening study from 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.  
  • Women of the ELCA (WELCA) has circles for study and sewing.  Check the WELCA page and the calendar
  • We share our time, talents, and treasures here and in the community.  ELCA's online spiritual gifts assessment can help you discern your spiritual gifts.
Fellowship: Join us as we enjoy and encourage each other
  • Youth..meets every other week and for special events.  Join us for bowling on August 1.

  • Summer Fellowship:  Do you enjoy Musicals?  Plays?  Baseball?  Ice Cream? Come out to join the festivities!
    • Sat, Aug 7, The Adventures of Robin Hood, bring picnic dinner to Roosevelt Bowl at 6:30 p.m.  Child: $4, Adult $8, Family $15 (advance)/$20 (door). Our missionary John Lunn is joining us.
    • Fri, July 30, Inland Empire 66ers game, meet at Arrowead Stadium at 7:05 p.m.
    • Sat, July 31, Family movie & Ice Cream Sundaes, 5:00 p.m. in the Parish Hall. 
  • Our Prayer Group meets every Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. to pray for the needs of the  church, the community, and the world.  Feel free to join in!
  • Rebecca Circle invites you to join in the sewing fun on fourth and fifth Thursdays at 9:00 a.m. in the Parish Hall.   No experience necessary! Projects benefit area veterans, those hospitalized, & others in need.

Community

Bring pull-tabs to the Parish Hall to support families at the Loma Linda Ronald McDonald House.  

Blood       

Can you spare a pint?  We need donations to our congregation's blood donor club to meet the needs of our members.  You can donate to any donor center at any time just specify Lutheran Church of Our Savior, San Bdno in the donor club line of your donation.  Our nearest center is at 384 W. Central City Lutheran Mission

You can help us feed the homeless men and women of our community at the Central City Lutheran Mission (CCLM) by bringing needed food & serving items to collection box in the parish hall.  Fresh fruits from backyard trees are much appreciated and should be taken directly to the mission.

Rev. John Lunn  Healthcare for
India & Liberia

Change of Plans!  Rev. Lunn will be visiting us on the weekend of August 5-8!

Rev. John Lunn is an ELCA missionary serving as a healthcare resource specialist in India & Liberia. John spends half of his time with palliative care (care for the dying) at Christian Medical College in Vellore, South India, and another half of his time traveling to other Lutheran partner hospitals to provide presentations and classes for nurses, pastors, ICU doctors, and community groups. Individuals support John through their prayers and their financial support.  John has a specific list of prayer requests.  You can also view photos from India and even get A Sambar Recipe from India.  You can contribute to financial support by signing up in the church Entryway for $23 per week.   More information including letters from John, see Missionary Lunn.

St. Nicholas fund The St. Nicholas fund is a place where members & supporters can help those in need.  Contributions to the St. Nicholas Fund can be dropped in the offering or mailed to the church office. Just note "St. Nicholas Fund" in the memo line of your check. Contributions are tax deductible and will be recorded on your contribution record.
Health and Emergency Preparedness

Are you ready for an emergency or disaster?  Do you have a family emergency plan and emergency supplies?  Need preparedness information?  Need phone numbers or emergency alert radio stations to check on a current emergency?  Check out the resources of our disaster ministry.
